Canadian health officials are advising residents in Ontario and Quebec about a potential salmonella contamination in peanuts being sold in the region.
The recall, initiated by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, pertains to the product “Roasted Lemon Nā Chilli Peanuts” under the brand PK.
Consumers are advised to either dispose of the affected peanuts or return them to the place of purchase following the recall issued on Thursday.
Although salmonella-contaminated food may not exhibit any visual or olfactory signs of spoilage, it can still lead to illness, according to the CFIA.
Individuals with compromised immune systems are at a higher risk of contracting severe and even fatal infections from consuming contaminated food. Those with robust immune systems may experience symptoms such as fever, headaches, and vomiting.
As of now, no illnesses related to the recall have been reported, as confirmed by the CFIA.
