The weather in Toronto is set for a shift this week, with a slight cool-down on Monday followed by a warm-up expected in the coming days. While Monday’s temperatures hovered below the typical mid-September average of 21 degrees Celsius, a northerly wind kept the high at 19 degrees Celsius.
As we move through the week, temperatures are forecasted to rise, reaching 2 to 4 degrees above the seasonal norm. Mid-week, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday, Toronto can expect highs of 25 degrees Celsius. Tuesday will bring windy conditions with gusts up to 40-50 kilometres per hour. Thanks to a south-westerly wind, temperatures will climb to 24 degrees Celsius. There might be passing showers in the morning and afternoon in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Natasha Ramsahai, CityNews Chief Meteorologist, warns of a potential brief thunderstorm in the north GTA. Wednesday should be mostly dry, but Ramsahai advises carrying an umbrella just in case. Thursday may see cloudy skies with scattered showers, while Friday is looking dry for now.
The weekend, however, is expected to cool down to more seasonal or even below seasonal temperatures. Saturday is predicted to be cloudy with a high of 21 degrees Celsius, followed by a slight drop on Sunday to 20 degrees Celsius. Rain is forecasted for Sunday, with around 20-30 millimetres expected in the west of Toronto and 10-20 millimetres in the city itself.
