The search for David, a 78-year-old man missing for over a week, has now involved the U.S. Coast Guard, as reported by Toronto police. The hunt for David has expanded to encompass Lake Ontario and its surrounding shoreline, with authorities collaborating with the Coast Guard to intensify search efforts.
David was reported missing on Sept. 10 after he was last spotted in an inflatable kayak in the South Kingsway and The Queensway area along the Humber River. Since then, there has been no sign of David, nor have any traces of the kayak or related belongings been found.
Upon visiting David’s residence on Sept. 15 for a routine check, investigators discovered that he had gone kayaking earlier in the week. This revelation spurred a joint search operation involving the TPS Marine Unit, Peel’s Marine Unit, and drone teams to scour the area.
Standing at five-feet-eight with black and grey hair and a thin chinstrap beard, David was last seen dressed in a red shirt, black and red vest, black pants, and black shoes.
Although David’s disappearance has not been labeled as a Level 1 search, the highest priority for missing person cases, efforts are ongoing to locate him.
