A dramatic video captured by Langley RCMP shows a Ford Ranger recklessly swerving and eventually crashing on Highway 1 in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident unfolded when a vigilant witness called the police around 3:30 a.m. to report the erratic driving behavior of the truck near 264 Street. As the witness narrated the unfolding events to the police dispatcher, the Ford Ranger collided with a cement divider, finally coming to a stop on the highway’s shoulder. The entire event was caught on the witness’s dash cam.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered that the driver, a 23-year-old man from Kamloops, displayed signs of impairment. This prompted the Mounties to initiate an impaired driving investigation. Subsequently, the driver failed a roadside screening test, leading to the enforcement of a 90-day driving ban, a 30-day vehicle impound, and a $500 fine.
Cpl. Mansoor Sahak expressed gratitude that the situation did not result in a fatal outcome, emphasizing the dangers of impaired driving. “Impaired driving is the leading cause of criminal deaths in Canada, and it is entirely preventable,” he stressed.
