Peel Regional Police have arrested a man for stealing firearms from a Brampton woman he met on a dating app, sparking concerns that he may have targeted more victims nationwide under various aliases.
The investigation was initiated after a Brampton woman reported being victimized by a man she met online. The suspect allegedly took keys to her home and a gun safe during a visit, returning later to steal two firearms and ammunition legally owned by the woman.
The alleged thief, identified as Jason Randolph Blake Bowden, 42, with no fixed address, is believed to have a history of criminal activities spanning two decades, including break-ins and thefts. He was apprehended by officers in Mississauga on Sept. 8.
Charged with several crimes, including possession of stolen property and firearm-related offenses, Bowden remains in custody pending a bail hearing. The stolen firearms, ammunition, fraudulent identification documents, and multiple bank cards under different names were recovered during the investigation.
Authorities suspect Bowden utilized various false identities to evade capture while committing crimes in different regions, leading to concerns of more unidentified victims.
Peel Regional Police are urging individuals who may have interacted with Bowden or possess relevant information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
