Attention Montrealers and cycling enthusiasts! The pulse of the city is set to quicken as the Cycling World Championships enter their sixth day.
Here’s your guide to navigating Montreal this Friday amidst the cycling action:
The U23 women’s road race will kick off the day on the iconic Mount Royal circuit, starting bright and early at 6 a.m. and running until noon. Following that, the junior men’s road race will take over the same circuit, carrying on from noon to 6:15 p.m.
For the event, Camillien-Houde Way and Remembrance Road will be closed. The cyclists will pedal towards Côte-des-Neiges Road, then move on to Maréchal Avenue before making their way north on Decelles Avenue.
The route will wind past the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery before turning onto Chemin de la Rampe via Chemin de la Tour and Chemin de Polytechnique.
Following Boulevard Édouard-Montpetit eastward, the cyclists will make their way to Avenue Vincent-D’Indy, turning left and proceeding down Côte-Sainte-Catherine Road towards Pagnuelo Avenue, eventually arriving at Mont-Royal Boulevard.
They will then descend to Mont-Royal Avenue West and make a turn onto Saint-Urbain Street. Two more right turns onto Avenue des Pins Ouest will lead the cyclists back to the finish line on Avenue du Parc.
Over the course of 10 laps, covering a total distance of 134 kilometers, the athletes will showcase their skills and stamina.
Street closures will remain in effect until the conclusion of the cycling championships on September 27. Mont-Royal Avenue East, Duluth Avenue East, and a section of Prince-Arthur Street East will be among the areas affected, so plan your routes accordingly.
