Phoenix Suns player Dillon Brooks is facing charges for driving under the influence following his arrest earlier this year in Scottsdale, Arizona. Records indicate that Brooks is scheduled for a court appearance on Oct. 28 to address this misdemeanor charge.
According to Suns senior vice president of communications Stacey Mitch, the charge stems from an incident in March, but the team has dealt with the matter internally and will not comment further.
Brooks, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, was taken into custody during a traffic stop in the early hours of March 6. Despite being sidelined with a fractured left hand at the time, he had an impressive performance last season, averaging 20.2 points per game. Brooks recently signed a lucrative three-year extension worth $73 million, securing his spot with the Suns until 2030.
In addition to the DUI charge, Brooks is also facing other charges of reckless driving and speeding from a separate incident in January, with a court date set for Nov. 9.
