“Mayor Bonnie Crombie Targeted with Online Threats, Peel Police Launch Investigation”

Peel Regional Police Service has launched an investigation in response to reported online threats against Mississauga mayoral candidate Bonnie Crombie. Crombie notified authorities about the threats, which were received through social media, on September 21.

A police spokesperson confirmed the ongoing investigation, stating that Peel police are actively looking into the matter.

During a post-debate press conference following a mayoral debate on Thursday night, Crombie addressed the threats she had received. She shared that the individual behind the threats had attempted to discourage her from attending an upcoming debate scheduled for October 5, hosted by POLICORNER’s Ahmad Elbayoumi.

“I was threatened regarding my attendance at your debate,” Crombie informed Elbayoumi during the press conference. “I was warned of serious consequences if I did not withdraw,” she added.

Despite the intimidation, Crombie emphasized her determination to attend the debate, stating, “I plan to participate in your debate, and I am eagerly looking forward to it. I will not be swayed.”
