North Vancouver Police Probe Series of Alleged Assaults on Grindr Users

The North Vancouver RCMP is actively investigating a series of assaults that have targeted individuals using the popular Grindr app, a dating platform. The incidents occurred on August 27 and August 31 when victims, who had arranged to meet their online contacts in person, were met by groups of young people who proceeded to assault or threaten them. The victims also suffered damage to their vehicles in both instances. Authorities have identified a third assault that took place on August 29 near Ross Road Elementary School, although this incident had not initially been reported to the police.

Police officials have reviewed CCTV footage and believe that the three attacks are related. Constable Paul Reece expressed the RCMP’s deep concern over these incidents and urged anyone with information or video evidence that could aid the investigation to come forward.

The RCMP is seeking dash cam or CCTV footage from specific areas and dates related to the assaults. Individuals who may have relevant information or footage are encouraged to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
