Police Crack Down on Crime Wave, Arrest Suspects in Duo of Home Invasions in Abbotsford

The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) has announced the arrest and charging of a suspect linked to two residential break-ins that occurred at rural properties last month.

Authorities were alerted to the first incident on September 3, when a suspect forcibly entered an occupied home on Bradner Road, north of King Road. The individual made off with several valuable items before making a hasty escape.

A second break-in was reported on September 14 at a residence on Montesina Avenue, west of Lefeuvre Road, approximately two kilometers away from the first location. Once again, valuable items were stolen before the suspect fled the scene.

The AbbyPD’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) took charge of both cases due to the similarities between the incidents. Following rigorous investigative work, CRU investigators pinpointed a suspect believed to be behind both break-ins.

A search warrant was executed on September 15 at a residence on Fraser Highway near 272 Street in Aldergrove, leading to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of stolen property.

Sgt. Hanninen of the AbbyPD CRU emphasized the distress caused by residential break-ins, as they violate individuals’ sense of safety and security in their own homes.

The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Bryan Barker, has been charged with two counts of break and enter and one count of disguise with intent.
