More than a quarter of eligible voters in Quebec have already cast their votes during the advance polling period, showing a significant increase compared to the previous election cycle.
Preliminary data from Élections Québec reveal that 25.59% of Quebec’s 6.4 million eligible voters, approximately 1.6 million people, participated in the advance voting process.
Notably, this turnout exceeds the 24.5% recorded during the advance polling for the previous election in 2022. The advance polling stations opened on Sunday, offering voters the opportunity to cast their ballots early at selected locations, as well as at returning offices and various university and college campuses.
Louis-Hébert, located in the Capitale-Nationale region, saw the highest advance voter turnout at an impressive 40.79%. In contrast, Ungava, the northernmost electoral district in the province, reported the lowest advance turnout at 10.54%.
With the advance polling phase completed, Quebec is now gearing up for the official election day on Oct. 5, when polling stations will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
