Toronto authorities are currently investigating a disturbing incident where multiple Israeli flags were intentionally set on fire outside a church in North York during the early hours of Wednesday morning. The Toronto Police Hate Crime Unit is now looking into the matter after receiving reports of the flags being ignited outside the Word of Faith International Christian Centre at 65 Sunrise Ave. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
According to the latest information from CityNews, the Toronto police have confirmed that the Hate Crime Unit is actively investigating the situation.
In response to the incident, Toronto mayoral candidate Brad Bradford condemned the act, labeling it as a form of intimidation directed towards both the Jewish community and local worshippers. Bradford emphasized that the burning of Israeli flags outside the church was not a form of protest but rather a deliberate act of intimidation aimed at instilling fear within the community. He expressed gratitude towards the swift response of the Toronto Fire Services and urged individuals with any relevant information or footage from the area to come forward and assist with the investigation.
As of now, no suspects have been apprehended, and the police are yet to release any information regarding potential perpetrators.
