Montreal fashion designer and philanthropist Simon Chang has been honoring individuals who have made a positive impact on their communities with the Simon Chang Difference Maker Award, in partnership with Inspiration’s newspaper since 2020. This year, the award recipients came together to express their gratitude towards Chang for recognizing their contributions.
Steven Atme, the 2021 recipient, shared, “Simon saw and recognized the value of my musical compositions and theatrical works, as well as my support for individuals with special needs. His acknowledgment of my charity work across Quebec and Canada meant a lot to me.”
Lisa Trotto, who received the award in 2022, highlighted the significance of Chang acknowledging the efforts of teachers in the special needs community. She emphasized the behind-the-scenes work that often goes unnoticed, such as researching projects and finding materials for students.
Reflecting on her recognition as the 2024 recipient, Anna Gualtieri mentioned the beauty corner she established at her school, providing students with confidence-boosting products. Chang’s acknowledgment reinforced her belief that even small gestures can have a meaningful impact on students’ lives.
Gualtieri emphasized the importance of creating positive change, stating, “Every small action can make a big difference to someone else. I am proud to play a role in enhancing students’ confidence and well-being through my beauty corner.”
