Quebec residents are on the brink of making history as they anticipate the upcoming Lotto Max draw on Tuesday, where the jackpot is set to soar to a staggering $101 million, including a grand prize of $85 million, marking a new record in the game’s history.
The draw on October 13 also promises the potential for up to 16 instant millionaires through the Maxmillions prizes, along with 85 prizes of $100,000, as revealed by Loto-Québec.
Renaud Dugas, the spokesperson for Loto-Québec, highlights the recent changes in Lotto Max, allowing the jackpot to climb as high as $90 million. With the $80 million jackpot remaining unclaimed from the previous draw, the upcoming prize now stands at $85 million.
The excitement surrounding the draw is reminiscent of the last jackpot won on August 21, where 49 individuals, unrelated to each other, shared a historic $55 million prize. These lucky winners, hailing from 12 regions of Quebec, had all joined forces by purchasing shares of a winning ticket online through the Group Formula. Among them was François Bissonnette from the Laurentians, who secured his entry just minutes before the draw.
While Quebec has seen significant winnings in the past, with prizes reaching up to $70 million, there is a palpable anticipation for the possibility of surpassing this record. As Dugas underlines, the allure of these substantial prizes has prompted numerous families, coworkers, and friends to form lottery groups in hopes of testing their luck.
