The Keremeos RCMP Calls for Witnesses in Fatal River Road Car Accident
The Keremeos RCMP is reaching out to the public for witnesses in a tragic single-car crash that occurred late Tuesday night, resulting in the loss of a young girl’s life.
According to authorities, the incident took place around 11:30 p.m. when a car veered off River Road and Bridge Street, plunging into the Similkameen River. Search and Rescue teams worked alongside emergency responders to rescue all occupants of the vehicle, who sustained injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
Tragically, a 17-year-old girl from Cawston, one of the passengers, passed away at the hospital. While the investigation is in its preliminary stages, authorities suspect alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
A criminal investigation is currently underway, with officials diligently working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic event. S/Sgt. Dan Pollock of the Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen RCMP urged anyone who witnessed the events leading up to the crash or possesses relevant video footage to come forward and assist the authorities.
