In a late-night incident that unfolded over the weekend, a man in his 30s sustained injuries from a sharp object during a confrontation in the western area of Montreal Island.
Authorities responded to a distress call at approximately 2:10 a.m. on Sunday near the crossroads of Gouin Boulevard and 8th Avenue in the Pierrefonds-Roxboro neighborhood.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found a conscious 35-year-old male victim with upper-body wounds caused by a sharp implement. He was promptly taken to a nearby hospital, with his condition remaining undisclosed, as stated by Officer Caroline Chèvrefils, the spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).
The victim is familiar with his attacker, who was apprehended at around 3:45 a.m. in Mirabel, a locality on the northern periphery of Montreal. The suspect, a 38-year-old man, was detained for further questioning at an investigative facility, according to the SPVM representative.
To aid investigative efforts, a security cordon has been set up around the crime scene, ensuring the preservation of evidence and facilitating the tasks of forensic experts and investigators.
Officer Chèvrefils mentioned that eyewitnesses have been interviewed, with a plan in place to review potential surveillance footage from nearby cameras.
The SPVM’s inquiry into the incident remains ongoing.
