Bruno Mars is making history by lending his voice to a SkyTrain station announcement, becoming the first musician to do so.
Starting on five dates that align with his Vancouver concerts at B.C. Place — Oct. 14, 16, 17, 20, and 21 — commuters passing through Stadium-Chinatown Station will hear Mars’ voice periodically.
This collaboration between TransLink and Warner Music Canada not only brings a touch of musical entertainment to daily commutes but also generates advertising revenue to support transit services in the region.
While Mars is the first musical artist to be featured in such an announcement, he follows in the footsteps of other notable personalities. Actor Seth Rogen graced a SkyTrain announcement in 2018, and Canadian soccer star Christine Sinclair lent her voice during the FIFA World Cup 2026.
TransLink’s CEO, Kevin Quinn, expressed excitement about this unique partnership, stating that hearing Bruno Mars’ voice on the SkyTrain adds an unexpected element of fun and entertainment to passengers’ journeys while contributing to the funding of essential transit services in the area.
Prior to the official announcement, TransLink teased the collaboration using emojis representing some of Mars’ top hits. Fans quickly decoded the messages, recognizing popular songs like “Locked Out of Heaven,” “Treasure,” “Marry You,” “Leave the Door Open,” “Talking to the Moon,” and “Die with a Smile.”
