In a surprising turn of events, two adventurous children in Pembroke decided to take their parents’ car for a joyride in the dead of night, leading to a crash in a nearby cornfield.
The young culprits, an 11-year-old driver and a nine-year-old passenger, fortunately escaped the incident without any serious injuries.
According to provincial police, the escapade was brought to their attention when an officer on a routine foot patrol heard a vehicle performing burnouts in the western part of Pembroke, a city located to the northwest of Ottawa, in the early hours of Monday.
Despite attempts by the officer to halt the car, the daring duo evaded capture as they sped off, with the police wisely choosing not to engage in pursuit.
Shortly thereafter, authorities discovered the car abandoned in a cornfield, presumably after the children lost control of the vehicle.
Following the incident, the children were safely returned to their parents, with no charges being pressed against them due to their tender age.
This quirky tale of youthful mischief serves as a reminder to keep a watchful eye on curious minds.
