Montreal’s Newest Neighborhood Quartier Molson Breaks Ground
Excitement filled the air as the construction of Quartier Molson, Montreal’s newest neighborhood, kicked off with a groundbreaking ceremony. The development is set to transform the former Molson brewery complex along the St. Lawrence River in the Ville-Marie borough over the next decade.
The ambitious project, estimated to cost around $190 million, will include nearly 400 residential units, a supermarket, and a recreation of the historic Sohmer Park, a beloved spot from the late 19th century. The development is a joint effort, with investment from the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ.
President of Montoni, Dario Montoni, expressed the significance of their role in shaping this iconic site, embracing its rich history and heritage. Additionally, plans are in place to begin construction on the heritage site Îlot des Voltigeurs and off-market housing units next year.
Upon completion, Quartier Molson will boast 5,000 housing units, including 1,000 off-market units, in accordance with an agreement with the City of Montreal. Green spaces, highlighted by the rejuvenated Sohmer Park, will offer picturesque views of the river, enhancing the quality of life for residents.
Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada and Claude Pinard, Chair of the City of Montréal Executive Committee, joined in the groundbreaking ceremony, underscoring the city’s support for this transformative project.
