Over the weekend, a collaborative effort between the Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) and Mission RCMP saw a joint operation set up on Mission Bridge to ensure road safety.
The authorities were focused on detecting signs of impairment and ensuring that motorists were adhering to traffic regulations. During the operation, AbbyPD took action by impounding six vehicles for excessive speeding, with several drivers clocking speeds over 70 km/h above the legal limit.
In addition to the bridge operation, AbbyPD’s Traffic Enforcement Unit patrolled specific areas identified as hotspots for impaired driving, aiming to crack down on reckless behavior.
In related news, a total of 10 impaired drivers were apprehended during the targeted patrols. This latest enforcement initiative follows on the heels of a previous announcement by AbbyPD, where a remarkable 12 impaired drivers were removed from the road within a span of 12 hours.
