A passenger in a vehicle was killed Saturday morning after the vehicle skidded off the road in Saint-Juste-du-Lac, in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.
Emergency services were called to Route 295 around 5:30 a.m. for a rollover involving a car with two people on board, said Élizabeth Marquis, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
According to initial reports, the driver, a woman in her 30s, reportedly lost control of her vehicle before veering off the road.
The passenger was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.
“The driver was transported to a hospital to obtain the necessary legal authorizations for blood sample collection,” explained Marquis. “These tests will determine whether her abilities were impaired by alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the incident.”
A police officer trained in collision investigation was scheduled to arrive at the scene this morning to determine the causes and circumstances of the accident. The road was closed to allow for an analysis of the scene.
