Suspected arson destroys three vehicles in Montreal North

Police are investigating a suspected arson that destroyed three vehicles at an automotive business in Montreal North early Friday morning.

Montreal police say officers responded to a 911 call at about 4:15 a.m. reporting two vehicles on fire in the parking lot of a business on Avenue Racette, near Boulevard Industriel.

When officers arrived, they found two vehicles engulfed in flames and requested assistance from the Montreal fire department.

According to preliminary information, one or more suspects allegedly set fire to the vehicles before fleeing the scene. Investigators located incendiary material at the site.

A third vehicle was also damaged by the blaze. All three vehicles are considered total losses.

Police say the fire caused minor damage to the building.

The investigation has been transferred to the arson unit of the Montreal police’s major crimes division. The scene has been secured while investigators examine the area to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Investigators are also expected to review surveillance footage from nearby cameras.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
