The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has launched an investigation following the discovery of a body in a residence in Portneuf, near Quebec City, in the Capitale-Nationale region.
The man’s body was discovered in a residence on St-Pierre Street after an emergency call was made around 1 a.m. on Sunday. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Few details were immediately available so as not to interfere with the ongoing investigation.
The investigation has been assigned to the Sûreté du Québec’s Personal Crimes Investigation Unit. Investigators and forensic technicians were called to the scene.
A security perimeter was established while the scene was being processed. A coroner’s autopsy will also be conducted.
As of shortly before 9 a.m. on Sunday, the SQ had not reported any arrests.
The SQ’s investigation is ongoing.
