Fans took transit across Metro Vancouver for Canada’s game day at BC Place on Thursday in record numbers.
Ridership growth was especially high in Richmond, Burnaby, and the Tri-Cities.
Surrey also saw a strong showing of riders, with Scott Road Station seeing an increase of 21.8 per cent and King George Station a growth of 133.1 per cent.
YVR-Airport Station saw a large increase at 23.6 per cent, which TransLink accounts for with people from around the world still arriving for the World Cup matches.
June 18 also saw the highest ridership on TransLink’s system since early 2020.
Across the system, there were more than 1.36 million boardings and about 849,100 trips, an 18 per cent increase in boardings compared to a typical Thursday.
