RCMP seeks dashcam video, witnesses after collision has left a teenage boy in hospital

Burnaby RCMP have released a statement asking the public for help with dashcam footage and witnesses after a serious motor vehicle collision involving an e-dirt bike.

The incident has left a teenaged boy in hospital with serious injuries.

Yesterday, around 2:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a serious car collision involving an e-dirt bike westbound on Barnet Highway, near Cariboo Road North.

The driver of the other car remained on scene, and the 15-year-old e-dirt bike rider was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) has assumed conduct of the investigation.

The circumstances leading up to the collision are still under investigation.

“If you were in the area, east or west bound on Barnet Highway, and witnessed the collision or have dashcam video, please contact our investigators,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with Burnaby RCMP.

Police are looking for dash cam footage along Barnet Highway, from Cariboo Road North to Reed Point Way (Port Moody), between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday, June 23, to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 2026-21877.
