The Richmond RCMP says it is asking the public for help in its investigation of a hit-and-run that took place Thursday.
Police say they responded to a report of a grey SUV hitting a cyclist and then driving away around 10 a.m.
The cyclist was travelling on Grant McConachie Way near the onramp leading to Russ Baker Way when he was hit by the vehicle, according to the RCMP.
“The cyclist sustained injuries and was taken to a local area hospital where he was treated and released,” Mounties said.
“The driver of the grey SUV did not remain on scene after the collision and has not yet contacted police.”
The RCMP says the crash happened in a high-traffic area on the way to Vancouver International Airport.
“Richmond RCMP are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident that morning,” police said.
“Specifically, investigators are looking to speak with the driver of a green vehicle with a stripe in the middle and the driver of a black Tesla, who were in the area at the time and may have witnessed the collision.”
Anyone with any information or dashcam footage is asked to call the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and refer to file 2026-19994.
Police remind drivers that they have a “moral and legal responsibility” to remain at the scene of a crash.
