Air Canada Jet Skids Off Taxiway in Montreal, All Passengers Safe

A plane operated by Air Canada, which had flown in from Los Angeles, veered off a taxiway upon landing at Montreal-Trudeau airport on a Thursday afternoon, causing no reported injuries. Images captured and shared with CityNews depict the aircraft on the grass following the incident that occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m.

In response to the situation, Aéroports de Montréal (ADM), the airport authority in Montreal, confirmed that the airport’s emergency coordination center was activated. Additionally, a spokesperson mentioned that the closure of the north runway was necessary for the safe evacuation of the 156 passengers and six crew members on board, leading to operational delays.

Air Canada disclosed that passengers and crew were safely deplaned and transported to the terminal using buses. Plans are underway to move the Boeing 737 MAX plane to a hangar for a comprehensive inspection, as stated by an airline representative. An extensive investigation will be conducted by Air Canada to determine the root cause of the occurrence.

Travelers scheduled to fly from Trudeau airport were advised to monitor their flight status prior to departure, given the circumstances.
