Twin Teen Brothers Named as Key Suspects in Tragic Brampton Shooting

Authorities in Peel Region have named two 17-year-old individuals as suspects in a tragic shooting incident that resulted in the death of a man in Brampton earlier this month.

According to investigators, the incident unfolded shortly after 3:30 p.m. on July 5, when a confrontation among multiple individuals in the vicinity of Edenbrook Hill Drive and Earlsbridge Boulevard escalated into gunfire. Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered a young man in his 20s with a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to a trauma center, he tragically succumbed to his injuries. At present, the identity of the victim remains undisclosed.

The two brothers allegedly involved in the shooting have been identified as Shemii Whittaker and Shemel Whittaker.

Authorities have secured a court order permitting the release of the suspects’ photos until 5 p.m. on July 22, or until the suspects are apprehended.

In a statement released on Friday, police warned the public that the suspects are considered armed and dangerous, advising against any direct contact and urging individuals to promptly notify 911 if they have any information on the whereabouts of the suspects.

Investigators are urging both suspects to seek legal representation and voluntarily surrender to authorities. Additionally, they emphasize that any individual found assisting or harboring the suspects may face arrest and charges.
