Quebec and Ottawa Join Forces to Overhaul Environmental Review Process, Aiming for Efficiency and Clarity

Quebec and Ottawa have joined forces to simplify the evaluation process for significant infrastructure and resource ventures.

During a collaborative statement released on Monday, Quebec Environment Minister Pascale Déry and Federal Minister and Quebec Liaison Joël Lightbound revealed that they had come to a preliminary agreement to reduce redundancies and expedite the evaluation procedure for prominent initiatives like mining projects.

A 21-day public review session is scheduled for this summer.

Lightbound emphasized the objective of finalizing this agreement within a month.
