Police in Surrey seized a firearm, three knives, and ammunition during a recent arrest in the early hours of a Sunday morning.
The Surrey Police Service (SPS) reported that the incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. when officers responded to a call about a driver slumped over in a vehicle at the intersection of 18 Ave. and 138 St. Upon arrival, they found the vehicle obstructing traffic.
SPS officers strategically surrounded the vehicle to prevent any potential escape and approached the unresponsive driver. As they tried to assist the driver, he suddenly regained consciousness and made an attempt to flee by starting the vehicle.
Despite the driver’s efforts, law enforcement successfully took him into custody. Subsequent investigation led to the discovery of the firearm, knives, and ammunition in the vehicle.
The individual is currently under the custody of the Surrey Police Service.
