Over the weekend, a tornado touched down in Repentigny during a powerful storm, confirmed by the Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP). This EF0 tornado with winds reaching up to 130 km/h swept through the area around 2 p.m. on Sunday. Analysis from drones and satellite images revealed damage to trees and buildings, fortunately with no reported injuries.
This recent tornado in Repentigny is the third in as many weeks in Quebec, following two previous tornadoes on July 21. One tornado, an EF1, hit Harrington in the Laurentians region, while another, an EF0, struck Saint-Donat in the Lanaudière region during the summer storm.
NTP data shows that Canada has already experienced a total of 87 tornadoes this year, with six of them occurring in Quebec.
