Trey Yesavage, a promising rookie starter for the Toronto Blue Jays, is facing a potentially serious knee injury, according to recent reports.
An MRI on Yesavage’s left knee has revealed a “meniscus injury,” as reported by Sportsnet’s Arden Zwelling. The young pitcher is scheduled to consult with a specialist in Texas on Monday for further assessment and to discuss potential treatment options.
While the possibility of surgery looms, team spokesperson John Schneider expressed the team’s hope to avoid such a scenario. Yesavage’s abrupt exit from a recent game against the Houston Astros due to a knee issue has raised concerns about the extent of his injury.
Having already been placed on the 15-day injured list with left knee inflammation, Yesavage’s absence from the Blue Jays’ lineup is a setback for the team. The 23-year-old pitcher has been a strong contributor this season, with impressive stats in both regular and post-season games.
This injury comes as Yesavage had just returned from a shoulder ailment that kept him sidelined at the start of the 2026 season. The Blue Jays, who were planning to switch to a six-man rotation, may now have to adjust their pitching strategy in light of Yesavage’s injury.
