Barrie authorities have arrested a woman for attempted murder following an alleged stabbing incident at a housing complex on North Street.
Upon responding to the scene, law enforcement discovered a severely injured victim in need of immediate medical attention.
The 41-year-old suspect, a resident of Barrie, was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital and later airlifted to a hospital in the Toronto area for further care.
Surveillance footage captured the victim entering a stairwell, with the suspect, armed with a knife, in close pursuit. Shortly after, the suspect was observed leaving the stairwell unaccompanied.
Following interviews with witnesses, authorities located the suspect inside a unit within the housing complex.
The 49-year-old suspect, also from Barrie, was peacefully taken into custody and subsequently charged with attempted murder.
According to the police, the two women have a prior relationship and a history of disagreements.
