Toronto police have confirmed the tragic passing of a pedestrian who was struck by a TTC streetcar last week.
According to authorities, the 62-year-old man lost his life after fighting for six days in a Toronto hospital. The incident occurred at the intersection of King Street East and St. Lawrence Street on July 31, prompting emergency crews to respond to reports of a personal injury collision.
Initial investigations suggest that the pedestrian was walking northbound on the road when they were hit by the eastbound 504 King streetcar. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the pedestrian sadly succumbed to their injuries on August 6.
Prior to this update, a TTC spokesperson emphasized the organization’s commitment to prioritizing the safety of all individuals utilizing the transit system.
Police have informed that a detailed fatal collision investigation is currently underway by Traffic Services.
