A man caused chaos in North Vancouver after jumping on a police cruiser’s hood and smashing the windshield, resulting in a significant amount of damage, according to the North Vancouver RCMP.
The incident unfolded around 8 p.m. on Monday when BC Emergency Health Services sought assistance with an aggressive patient at Lonsdale Quay.
Upon the first officer’s arrival, the man from the medical call promptly leaped onto the police vehicle’s hood and began punching and kicking the windshield, inflicting substantial harm, as detailed by Mounties.
Additional officers quickly intervened, leading to the man’s arrest.
Both the man and the officer were taken to the hospital for injuries sustained during the windshield altercation, stated the North Vancouver RCMP in a news release.
The suspect, a familiar face to law enforcement, now faces multiple charges.
Cpl. Mansoor Sahak described the incident as “dynamic and frightening,” especially for bystanders in the densely populated area where it occurred. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries reported.
