Toronto police have identified a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault that occurred last weekend in the city’s downtown core.
Police say the incident happened around 6 p.m. on Aug. 15 when a man and a woman were walking toward each other on a sidewalk near University Avenue and College Street. As the man passed the victim, he sexually assaulted her, according to investigators. He then fled the area.
Police now say the suspect has been identified as Jose Mario Recinos, 58, of Toronto. He is wanted for sexual assault.
Police describe Recinos as 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6, with a thin build and clean‑shaven. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark blue “Fenwick” baseball cap, a grey hooded sweater with “Canada” printed on the front, black jogging pants, black Nike shoes with a green Nike symbol on the inner toe and a black backpack.
Investigators have released an image of Recinos and are urging anyone who sees him or has information about his whereabouts to contact 52 Division at 416‑808‑5200.
