Andalos Bakery: A Taste of Lebanon in Montreal
Andalos, a small Lebanese bakery that started in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent, has blossomed into a thriving multi-generational family business. As they celebrate their 35th anniversary this year, the Cheaib family takes pride in continuing to share the rich flavors and traditions of Lebanon with their community.
“We believe in the goodness and flavorfulness of Lebanese cuisine,” says Pascale Cheaib, head of operations and co-owner of Andalos. “It’s not just tasty, it’s fresh. Why wouldn’t you want to share that?”
Founded in 1991 by Raymond Cheaib after immigrating from Lebanon, Andalos has evolved into a hub for fresh pita, baked goods, homemade Lebanese dishes, and catering services. Despite Raymond’s untimely passing in 2015, his three children have upheld his legacy and expanded the business to serve customers across Quebec, Canada, and beyond.
Reflecting on their journey, Pascale Cheaib describes Andalos as a place that feels like home. The bakery’s new line of zaatar crackers, inspired by their roots, is just one example of their commitment to sharing Lebanese flavors with a wider audience.
Beyond business growth, Andalos’ 35-year milestone is a celebration of the people who have been part of their journey, from loyal customers to dedicated employees like Any Akinian, who found warmth and love within the bakery’s walls.
To show gratitude to their community, Andalos is hosting a free block party on Sept. 19, featuring their delicious food and entertainment. It’s their way of saying thank you for the unwavering support over the years.
