“Watermain Burst Unleashes Chaos in Coxwell-Gerrard, Disrupts TTC Services!”

An early-morning water main break near the intersection of Coxwell Avenue and Gerrard Street East has caused flooding on the roadway, leading to disruptions in TTC service on the 506 Carlton route.

The TTC’s service alerts page has confirmed that the water main break has impacted streetcar operations in the area.

“506 – Service is not available between Main Street Station at Bay 7 and Coxwell Ave at Lower Gerrard St East due to a water main break. Shuttle buses are en route,” stated a TTC alert.

Currently, streetcars are turning back before reaching the affected area, and shuttle buses have been dispatched to ensure continuous service. Commuters should brace for delays, increased congestion, and longer travel times during the morning rush hour.

City workers are actively addressing the break to contain it and initiate repairs; however, a timeline for complete restoration remains uncertain. The flooded area is still a concern, and motorists are advised to steer clear of the intersection until the situation improves.
