Toronto FC staged a remarkable comeback after an early setback, with Daneil Salloi and Emilio Aristizabal securing a thrilling 2-1 victory over Nashville FC in a Major League Soccer clash on Wednesday.
Emilio Aristizabal, substituted in for Josh Sargent in the 75th minute, sealed the win with a close-range strike in the box just three minutes into extra time.
Salloi equalized earlier, capitalizing on a precise cross from substitute Theo Corbeanu in the 72nd minute at BMO Field. Toronto extended their unbeaten streak to seven games, with a record of 3 wins, 4 draws, and 11 losses.
Nashville, the league frontrunners with a record of 16 wins, 3 draws, and 5 losses, saw their six-game unbeaten run come to an end. This victory marked Toronto’s first triumph over Nashville since September 18, 2021.
Notably, Toronto’s midfielders Niklas Dorsch and Alonso Coello faced a communication breakdown with goalkeeper Luka Gavran, leading to an own goal in the fourth minute.
