Gas Prices in Toronto and GTA Set to Rise Again This Weekend
If you’re planning to hit the road in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) this weekend, make sure to fill up your gas tank on Friday. En-Pro International’s chief petroleum analyst, Roger McKnight, predicts a steady increase in gas prices, with costs expected to jump by seven cents per litre on Saturday.
After hitting a monthly low of 179.9 cents/litre on Friday, prices are anticipated to climb back up to 186.9 cents/litre at most gas stations across the region. This hike follows a notable eight-cent drop in less than 24 hours, driven by the industry’s transition from summer to winter gasoline blends. While winter fuel production is typically cheaper and can lead to temporary price decreases in early fall, these dips are often short-lived.
Although Friday’s drop provided a brief respite for drivers, marking the first significant decline in weeks, McKnight warns that market uncertainties, refinery adjustments, and changing demand patterns can swiftly push prices back up, especially with the upcoming fall travel season.
The projected price of 186.9 cents/litre on Saturday will bring gas prices in the GTA back to levels seen earlier in the week, remaining higher than the peaks recorded in June, July, and August.
