This latest creation, featuring bold block letters spelling out “Tom Selleck,” pays homage to the iconic actor’s ’80s and ’90s hunk status. Cease, inspired by Selleck’s charm and moustache, spent around three hours crafting this playful and colorful piece.
Cease, known for his pitching prowess, delved into painting in 2022, with his previous work, “Eve of Toronto,” earning a spot at the Art Gallery of Ontario. The gallery showcased his art in a high-profile exhibition, with a special retail collection launched, offering prints, postcards, shirts, and totes to support charity causes.
When Cease’s original painting was temporarily relocated for the gallery display, a replacement featuring vibrant flowers and multicolored letters, accompanied by a humorous nod to the movie “Wedding Crashers,” was promptly put in its place by Cease. Schneider, pleasantly surprised by the quirky artwork swap, praised the unexpected addition to his office decor, noting the surreal experience of having Tom Selleck’s name displayed prominently in 2026.
Cease expressed admiration for Selleck’s on-screen charisma and down-to-earth persona, emphasizing his genuine appreciation for the actor beyond just his famous moustache. The pitcher’s latest artistic venture adds a touch of whimsy and nostalgia to the Blue Jays’ managerial office, showcasing both his talent on the mound and his creativity on the canvas.
