A lucky man from Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine has become a millionaire overnight by winning the $1-million grand prize in a Québec Max draw.
Gérard Babin hit the jackpot from the draw on July 24 by using his Double Jeu Max ticket, which offers dual participation in Loto-Québec and Québec Max.
Initially, when Babin checked the Loto-Québec app, he believed he had only won $500. However, to his surprise, he later discovered that he had also secured the $1-million top prize through the Québec Max draw.
Excitedly waking up his spouse with the news, Babin’s partner initially thought he had merely earned a free play. It wasn’t until they checked the phone that they realized the staggering prize they had won.
Babin revealed that he kept the winning ticket with him at all times until he claimed the money, even taking it along everywhere he went, from the road to the hotel, and even to bed!
The fortunate winner has shared plans to use his newfound wealth to pamper his son and grandchildren and arrange an unforgettable family vacation.
The winning ticket was purchased at a Couche-Tard store in Paspébiac, with the retailer set to receive a $10,000 commission for selling the lucky ticket.
