Five individuals, including three teenagers aged 16 and 17, have been charged with a jewelry store robbery in Montreal’s Ville-Marie district last week. According to Montreal police (SPVM), the suspects stormed the store on Clark Street, near Viger Avenue, at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 11.
The suspects reportedly used tools to break into the business, smashing display cases to steal jewelry before fleeing in a vehicle. Fortunately, the store employee present during the incident was unharmed.
Approximately 30 minutes later, law enforcement apprehended all five suspects in the Saint-Laurent area, recovering the stolen items in the process.
Jason Clerveaux, 21, and Roldy Fenelon-Jean, 19, the two adult suspects, appeared in a Montreal court and are facing multiple charges, including breaking and entering, robbery, possession of burglary tools, wearing a disguise for criminal intent, and mischief. Clerveaux also faces a charge of receiving stolen goods.
The three underage suspects, whose identities remain undisclosed, appeared in youth court and are confronting similar allegations, as per police statements.
SPVM is actively investigating the possibility of the suspects’ involvement in other smash-and-grab thefts.
