Employers in Quebec are planning to offer an average salary increase of 3.1% next year, as per the latest 2027 salary forecast survey conducted by the Order of Certified Human Resources Professionals. This marks the fourth consecutive year of moderate salary growth following a period of high inflation.
Interestingly, there seems to be a discrepancy between the salary expectations of male employees and what employers have in mind. While workers are anticipating a 4.6% raise based on a Léger poll commissioned by the Order, the actual plan from employers falls short of this figure.
The survey also highlights a notable contrast between the salary expectations of male and female employees. On average, women are expecting increases of 2.6%, showing a significant difference in perceived salary hikes.
When it comes to different sectors, the variations in salary forecasts are relatively modest, with public administration anticipating the smallest increase at 2.7%. However, employers in public utility services, such as electricity and gas distribution, telephone services, and water treatment, are forecasting a higher growth rate of 3.7%.
These salary projections are based on data collected from surveys conducted by eight specialized firms, reflecting the intentions of 1,300 companies across Quebec. Additionally, an online survey conducted by Léger with 529 respondents shed light on individual salary expectations.
It’s important to note that while online surveys like the one conducted by Léger do not involve random sampling of the population, they provide valuable insights into employee perceptions and expectations regarding salary increments.
