Toronto police responded to multiple incidents near a high school in North York following reports of a possibly-armed individual in the vicinity. The events unfolded over two consecutive days at C.W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute near Finch Avenue West and Keele Street.
According to CityNews, authorities were first alerted about an individual with a gun in the area on Wednesday, but the person had fled before police arrived. The following day, a similar report emerged, suggesting the same individual might have returned to the scene. However, no firearm was sighted, and the person once again fled prior to police intervention.
This series of events comes shortly after a tragic incident on Monday, where Cashie Auguste, a student at C.W. Jefferys, was found shot near Jane Street and Finch Avenue West. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Auguste succumbed to his injuries.
In a recent development, investigators disclosed that a 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and failure to comply with a probation order in connection to Auguste’s death.
