Several occupants in a building received medical attention for breathing in smoke, while a police officer was taken to the hospital following a blaze that broke out in an apartment early on Monday in Mississauga.
First responders rushed to the vicinity of Iverhouse Drive and Lakeshore Road West at approximately 3:38 a.m. According to Peel police, the injured officer was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Road closures are currently in effect at Iverhouse Drive intersections with Lakeshore Road West and Bonnymede Drive.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
