Several talented Quebec artists have made it to the final list for the prestigious SOCAN Polaris Song Prize, announced by CBC on Wednesday. Among the notable contenders are the track “Fabienk” by the Saguenay-based group Angine de Poitrine, and “House on Fire” by the renowned singer-songwriters Patrick Watson and Martha Wainwright.
The SOCAN Polaris Song Prize, boasting a prize of $10,000, is dedicated to recognizing the most outstanding Canadian song of the year.
The shortlist also features impressive entries such as “Lean” by Charlotte Day Wilson and Saya Gray, “Hunger for Death” by the band PUP, and “Hurts Like Hell” by Charlotte Cornfield.
The eagerly awaited announcement of the winner will take place during the Polaris Awards concert and ceremony on September 22 at Massey Hall in Toronto.
This final selection for the Song Prize is the culmination of a rigorous process that began with an initial lineup of 20 tracks revealed on June 24th.
