Toronto police have scheduled a press briefing today to share updates on a disturbing case involving two individuals found dead in separate burning vehicles in Scarborough and Etobicoke earlier this week.
Detective Sergeant Henri Marsman from the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit will address the media at 42 Division headquarters in Scarborough at 12:30 p.m., as per a statement released this morning.
The incidents, which occurred in different parts of the city within a short timeframe, have sparked concerns and investigations.
The first incident took place on September 21 at Reesor Road and Steeles Avenue East in Scarborough, where a vehicle fire led to the discovery of a deceased individual after firefighters put out the flames.
Shortly after, on the early morning of September 22, emergency responders were called to James Gardens Park in Etobicoke for another vehicle fire. Tragically, another deceased person was found inside the burned vehicle.
Toronto police have not confirmed any connection between the incidents, but the discovery has triggered a homicide investigation. Detectives are actively looking into the matter to determine if foul play was involved and if there is any link between the two cases.
