A tragic helicopter crash on Montreal’s South Shore claimed the lives of four individuals on a Saturday afternoon.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was alerted to the crash near Rang des Écossais, off Highway 10 in the Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville municipality, approximately 50 kilometers southeast of Montreal, shortly after 2:30 p.m. The helicopter had crashed and caught fire, prompting emergency response to bring the blaze under control.
Upon arrival, all four occupants of the helicopter were found deceased at the scene, as confirmed by an SQ spokesperson to CityNews. The authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the victims.
The SQ’s Major Crimes Unit will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. Additionally, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada is set to dispatch its investigators to the crash site.
