As the British Columbia election campaigns move into their second week, all eyes are on the major parties as they prepare for policy announcements and nominate candidates.
The New Democrats, currently in power, have revealed their candidate for Vancouver-Fraserview: Aman Singh, a former MLA and BC NDP president who is vying to unseat the incumbent. Singh previously contested in Richmond-Queensborough, where he was defeated by Conservative Steve Kooner in 2024.
Meanwhile, Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson is making waves in Vancouver with promises of no tax hikes if his party wins the election on Oct. 24. Doerkson has also taken a stance against the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) program in schools, advocating for its repeal.
B.C. Green Leader Emily Lowan is not to be outdone, as she gears up to announce her party’s child care policies and introduce their candidate for the Victoria-Swan Lake riding later today, with an event scheduled on Vancouver Island.
